Overview
The Skill Development and Employment (SDE) Division of NITI Aayog plays a key role in contributing critical inputs for initiatives and reforms in the areas of skill development, employment, livelihood creation and social security. The Division engages with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Labour and Employment to provide recommendations on schemes and initiatives being undertaken in the labour, employment and skills sector.
The Division also engages with State governments, think-tanks, academic institutions, civil society and private organizations for deliberations and collaborative work on skill development, labour welfare and livelihood and provides policy guidance to key stakeholders in the sector.
Core Functions
  • Engaging with MSDE and MoLE on issues of policy/schemes through appraisal of SFCs, EFCs, Cabinet Notes and PPRIDs.
  • Providing policy guidance to key stakeholders in labour, employment, and skill development sector through deliberations and collaborative efforts across multiple sectors and stakeholders.
  • Engaging with States to organize workshops under the ‘State Support Mission’ and Vision Documents.
  • Collaborating with research organisations and development partners for research studies and development initiatives in the areas of skill development and livelihood generation.
