Industry & Foreign Investment
Overview
The Industry & Foreign Investment Vertical is dedicated to driving the growth of India's manufacturing, MSMEs, and Mining sectors while also fostering foreign investments through strategic policies and initiatives. We collaborate with key government departments like DPIIT, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Heavy Industries, and Ministry of Mines among others, to achieve our goals.

Our main goals include:
  • Boosting manufacturing in India through multi-pronged approaches including –
    • Leveraging the potential of Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, in close coordination with all concerned Ministries
    • National Mission on Manufacturing, Brand India strategy, etc.
    • Fostering growth of India’s labour-intensive manufacturing sectors, such as textiles, food processing, etc.
    • Addressing various pertinent issues to improve the manufacturing sector, such as site adjacent factory employee accommodation for workers.
  • Promotion of foreign investment in India by facilitating the development of strategic policies that enhance the country's attractiveness as a global investment destination.
  • Enhancing India’s participation in Global Value Chains (GVCs), especially in electronics, automotive and chemical sectors.
  • Macro policies for comprehensive industrial development & fostering foreign investment.
  • Holistic development of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs); including enhancing their competitiveness through technology up gradation, scheme convergence, etc.
  • Enhancing ease of doing business.
  • Holistic development of Minerals sector in India, including encouraging optimum mineral exploitation, reducing imports, strengthening supply chains by means of value addition, mining reforms, and critical minerals mission.
  • Active engagement with India’s States, and relevant domestic & global stakeholders, to collaboratively work towards the industrial and economic development of India .
  • Coordination of work related to Blue Economy, and Bilateral Dialogue under India-France Roadmap on Blue Economy and Ocean Governance
Core Functions
  • Policy formulation related to promotion of foreign investment & the growth of Industry, MSME, and Mining sectors, in coordination with aligned Ministries/Departments.
  • Collaboration with research organisations and knowledge partners for analytical studies and development initiatives in relevant areas.
  • Analysing proposals and offering views/comments on the proposals of various Ministries/Departments of Government of India
  • Policy suggestions/inputs to various government Departments/ Ministries for promoting the overall agenda of industrial growth.
  • Participation in various meetings as part of inter-ministerial consultation.
